Tretorn was founded in Helsingborg, Sweden 1891. Since then we’ve been an innovation-driven company with high quality, functional and contemporary products in mind. For us, it is absolutely essential to act sustainably and take care of nature as much as we possibly can. We want to use our heritage and knowledge to contribute to a better future. Therefore, we have founded The Eco Essentials Initiative; Our sustainable Innovation engine for our next 125 years of growth.


We look at sustainable innovation not only as a process to create new products. In everything we do, sustainability is key. For us, it means creating an organization and business system that provides for quality of life, while being resilient with the environment and its resources. A sustainable company is one that resembles an organic system where all of resources (human, natural and economic) are renewed and in balance for perpetuity.


Today, all of us need to change how we interact with nature and a more innovative approach to using resources. At Tretorn, we don’t look at innovation only as what we make, but also how we make it and why we use our resources in the way we do. Our mission is to be an inspiration and a role model for how businesses can interact with nature and create a more circular process. We are inspired by nature’s own ecosystem and we strongly believe in a process where nothing should go to waste. Products should last long, be reused and eventually recycled. We have also found new ways to look upon high-quality waste as an opportunity, a resource to be harvested and developed into a circular process, while slowly eliminating the very concept of waste. Our first goal is to transform 50 % of our rainwear into - Eco Essentials - before the year of 2020. But it is an ongoing mission without an end goal.


Eco Essentials is our platform and initiative for revolutionizing the way we do business. It is also an innovation opportunity that has been integrated across our business in policies, processes and products. Today, we are innovating at a scale to deliver better solutions that benefit our everyday user, the company and the world.


We know efficiency alone is not enough. The world needs systemic change at scale, and to meet this change we need to develop how we interact with nature. We need to collaborate rather than compete. And we need to start look upon waste as a resource and adopt to a more circular mindset. We believe the future of innovation is sustainable innovation.
