RUBBER BOOTS

Wash & clean
Always keep your boots clean.

Even if Tretorn rubber boots are built tough, they actually don’t like dirt, mud, manure, industrial oils, blood or solvents. To increase the lifespan of your boots, always make sure to regularly wash them in lukewarm soapy (glycerine) water. And if needed brush them clean in cracks and stitches, especially if there is visible dirt or mud on them. You can easily wash the exteriors of your rubber boots with a wet rag or use our Tretorn cleaning sponge.

Dry
Never dry your boots over heaters.

If the inner lining is wet you can preferably dry your boots upside down. Natural rubber performs best if dried at room temperature. No more no less. The natural rubber in Tretorn rubber boots is made without PVC, phthalates, fluorocarbons, or other chemical additives. It is only pure natural rubber and coloring pigment.

Condition
A rubber conditioner could preferably be used regularly during the wet season or every other month during long dry periods.

When rubber boots come as new they have a non-visible protective surface that wears away during excessive use. Without this surface, you leave the boot undesirable exposed to sunlight, with an increased risk for the rubber to crack prematurely as a result. You apply the conditioner on a clean and dry rubber boot with a clean cloth.

Polish
You can use a rubber polish when you want to give your boots that new refreshing look.

A silicon-based solvent that is easy to apply with a clean and dry cloth on a clean and dry rubber boot. Will give you a shiny new look for the long forest walks as well as the city stroll.

STORAGE

When you are not using your rubber boots it is important to store them in a dry and dark place that is uniformly heated.

Natural rubber doesn’t like big changes in temperature; so let your rubber boots stay indoors rather than in the garage for the winter. They also don’t like being left out in the sun. Since the light dries out the rubber and makes it easier to crack prematurely.

HYBRID SHOES

You do not need to impregnate the hybrid boots in order for them to maintain their waterproofness, as the neoprene and rubber themselves are waterproof. Hand wash your hybrid shoes in lukewarm water with a soft sponge or cloth. Do not use strong detergents or anything that contains oil or acid.

Condensation can form inside the shoe when used, which makes the lining damp, so it is good to remove the insole for ventilation and let the shoe dry without the sole until the next use. Therefore, all our hybrid shoes have a detachable insole.
